A planning scheme amendment at Royal Pines is being progressed by Altius Property Group, in consultation with the City of Gold Coast and the Queensland Government.
The first step will be to engage with stakeholders, prior to lodging an application with the Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning under the Integrated Resort Development Act 1987.
The proposed amendment aims to facilitate the future redevelopment of 9 holes of the Eastern Golf Course and will include a revitalisation of the Royal Pines golf offering, with plans to upgrade the precinct’s eastern and western layouts into a single 18-hole course. Designed to enhance playability, performance and visual appeal, the upgraded course would elevate Royal Pines’ standing as a golfing destination.
This investment in the golf course forms part of a broader vision to secure the precinct’s long-term future as a world-class sporting and lifestyle hub. The upgrade would preserve Royal Pines’ iconic status while unlocking opportunities for complementary land uses, supporting housing supply and improved local amenity.
The proposal aligns with the Queensland Government’s strategy to deliver more homes in well-located areas, faster.
Should the amendment proceed, the changes would create the potential to introduce new housing to help address the region’s urgent supply needs, while also activating the precinct and improving connectivity with surrounding urban areas. Green links and active transport corridors will be considered to connect Ross Street, Cabana Dog Park and the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, further integrating the site into the community.

This planning process is being undertaken in close collaboration with the Queensland Government and the City of Gold Coast to ensure consistency with strategic objectives.
