On Tuesday the 14th of July, the Gold Coast City Council Planning and Regulation Committee considered the proposed planning scheme amendment for Royal Pines Resort.
“This is an important step to ensure Council and the community are kept informed about the changes that are proposed at Royal Pines.” said Josh Porter, CEO of Altius Property Group.
“We launched a community consultation in December last year because we wanted to get this right.
“Community members raised genuine concerns and we considered every issue carefully, worked with relevant government authorities and technical experts and made changes, including reducing some proposed building heights along Ross Street and addressed traffic upgrade requirements.
“This is also a major investment in our local economy, expected to deliver around $100 million a year in additional spending for local businesses and support some 1,250 ongoing jobs, alongside wider benefits across housing, tourism and sport for the Gold Coast.
“The proposed planning scheme amendment seeks to unlock a range of uses, including identifying land use, the structure of the precinct and development controls, with significant further design required before any works can be progressed.
“The next step is the formal notification process to Body Corporates before we formally apply to the Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning for the amendment.”
This planning scheme amendment is the opportunity to lay the foundations for a long-term staged development of the precinct over many years.
